THE CHALLENGE: Myself and two other coaches collaborated to roll out a learning programme for the NHS. This programme was available to commissioners, general practitioners, nurses, consultants and for specialist teams.
THE SOLUTION: The programme lasted for over a year and comprised of training modules for one-one coaching, team coaching, culture, and conflict. Each module was supplemented with one-one supervision and cross-functional action-learning sets in groups of around 8.
THE RESULTS: The programme received around 88% satisfaction ratings and participants were encouraged to transfer the learning back to their day jobs, which many reported back with success.
Nevertheless, systemic influences were such that it became evident that much of the NHS is not organised into teams but rather groups who form and then disband and reform where needed.
